A Life Worth Nothing

God calls us for such a time as this. He calls us to finish the race of completing the task the Lord Jesus has given to us – the task of testifying the good news of God’s grace. Our purpose here on earth is to love God and to love other people. Our vision is to win souls and make disciples. Our goal is to make them leaders of leaders. We do this because we want to transform our nation.

Christians in the time of the Apostles were very different compared to Christians now. They were willing to leave their family just to follow Jesus Christ. They were also willing to die for the sake of sharing the Way to others. Joy flooded their hearts while doing this but when their faith had been tested, crazy things happened to them. The Apostles experienced different forms of malignment from people. Literally, they were stoned, stripped, and beaten with rods. After the whipping, the prison cell became their resting place. I remember the time when Apostle Paul testified about Jesus Christ and some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium just to stone him. They dragged Paul outside the city thinking that he was already dead. The people were so determined to kill anyone who would try to talk about Jesus. But the Apostles didn't care about this. The bible, in Acts 20 mentions about Paul going to Jerusalem and not knowing what will happen to him. The other Apostles wanted to stop Paul because they knew many people wanted to kill him there. But Paul was so determined to go to Jerusalem. He was ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Christians right now are also prone to these tests and hardships but not in the same way as the Apostles. We call it hardship if our parents are persecuting us. We call it test if they don’t want us to attend Sunday service, WildSONs, or any service that involves the church. We call it problem if we don’t have money going to different places just to share the Gospel. We call it challenge waking up early just to go to Morning Prayer. We call all of these tests and hardships!

If we could just live our Christian life based on how the Apostles lived, we could win this Nation! Acts chapter 19 verses 8 to 10 speaks about the strict training that Paul and other apostles had. He took the disciples with him to plan and to strategize how to win the province of Asia. Paul considered all of these as challenges. Paul is a great leader, a boundless Christian, and an extraordinary man of God because he had solved different kinds of tough problems and challenges. Do you want to know how Paul solved all of these? I want to share to you some of his secrets. Paul mentioned in Philippians chapter 4 verses 12 that he had learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Then, Paul in Galatians chapter 2 verses 20 that he had been crucified with Christ and he no longer live, but Christ lived in him. Lastly, Paul considered his life worth nothing to him. His only aim was to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given him – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

Evaluate your life right now, what kind of Christian are you? Are you still living to desire the wants of your earthly body? Or you are totally dead just to finish the race. Always remember that God chose us for such a time as this to make a difference in our nation. We can just accomplish it if we are living a life worth nothing.
